So, I wanted to substitute character names for more Latin ones, but alas, I am thwarted and I don’t want to do additional research. John should be "Iohannes" but it looked weird. Hey I thought about it at least! uhh other names get Latin-ized. kinda. Yes. I should go do Nano.

Advance apologies for botched history. Last time I knew this cold was sophomore year…of High school. Seriously forgive the silly Romanized names. I spent way too much time procrastinating reading up on how I could transform them in a more sensible way but I fail without additional research or totally changing names. So, I am insane and I am going to attempt NaNo this year (barring me having to move in the middle of it)

To that end, I made a comm. sharedsuffering The purpose is to help people get their NaNo done. If you're not doing NaNo? well that's cool. Pick a fic, or original work or art project or Knitting or something else you want to get finished during the month of November and reap the rewards of group pressure. or something XD.

This kind of thing was really helpful for me to do when we did Big Bang so I'm hoping to get a group together to do something like that this November. The focus of the comm will be motivational squee and support. We'll likely try and get a weekly (and optional) "hey let's all sit down and write during this time period" and maybe a bi-weekly (or more?) snippet post schedule to help keep people going. If you'd like con-crit, you have to specifically ask for it, otherwise we'll all leave the caps on our red pens and squee ;)

Why am I talking about this a month in advance? well some of us *cough*sailorscully and I*cough* were hit by plot bunnies and are doing all the plotty things in advance.

Until Nano starts, however, I think I might see if there is interest in doing a sort of weekly-ish "hey lets all write something!" or update on the planning bits if we're doing NaNo.

so yeah, external accountability! I think I might even award gold stars or something cute just to help people get stuff done. Amazingly, Things get done if you force yourself to sit down and you know, do them? Procrastination is my biggest problem and I know I'm not alone. Having other people suffering at the same time helps keep me on track.

So I was stalking some information looking for something on LJ yesterday and doing a lot of clicking on friends and friends of friends? And at least one person got accidentally defriended because Java + Laggy computers = Epic FAIL. (all the info that pops up when you mouse over someones picture? yeah that. apparently you can defriend someone via that interface. UI FAIL.)

If you got defriended too please tell me 'cause it was accidental

I am doing DVD commentary for Conflicts of Interest.

I am on page 72 out of what is currently 192 pages long. I just ended Act One which was something like 55 pages before. DVD commentary expands a fic, omg!

I have external links to things and I have deleted scenes and some prequel material and lots and lots of commentary. And I am on page 72. *headdesk* Why did I decide to do this again?

also? There will be spoilers. it's a dvd commentary. Presumably you have seen the movie before you watch the commentary. If any of you were thinking you'd just read this version?

It is spoiler-tastic. I discuss how I tried to do some of the set-ups and payoffs and that pretty much ruins the end. It would make me cry (well not really). The stuff I cut? was all cut for GOOD reasons. I doubt I have the time for any extended scenes given that I have to post on Monday. I do sort of want an Epilogue, but that will be a separate post, and possibly not part of the DVD stuff.

SO, I have a silly idea: Ask me a question I can have my commentators answer to direct the commentary more (because left to my own devices I snark at myself and I find that disturbing). Guess how many pages in Word the fic will end up being and how many LJ entries the main fic will end up being when I post. Here's a hint: more than 192 pages in word.

Note: This is a completely AU setting for Stargate. The world is an alternate history version of our own world with a few radical changes. The first is that magic is real and works. The second is the presence of supernatural races that live, work, love and fight with normal humans. Most notable of these are the Werewolves and the Vampires. The third is that it is a steampunk setting - The technology of this world is at once far ahead of modern technology as we know it and yet far behind. There are airships and huge steam-powered mechs, lots of steel and brass and, of course, goggles. These three factors have changed history as we know it.

Atlantis is a city built by the Ancients. It lay at the bottom of the sea for centuries waiting to be rediscovered. Five months ago an Expedition came though the Gateway and brought the city back to the surface.
